Scholarship confirms that inclusive practices lead to higher quality research and greater innovation. The Office of the Dean for Research (DFR) is developing several initiatives to support and grow a more inclusive research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem at Princeton University and beyond, including creating new innovation funds aimed at broadening participation in academic research and innovation. DFR will also launch a new initiative to help diversify the entrepreneurial workforce.
Inclusive Research Initiatives
The NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Northeast Hub is a network of universities formed to accelerate the economic impact of federally funded research while building skills and opportunities among researchers from historically underrepresented in entrepreneurship. Princeton also hosts EMPOWER, a conference that strives to broaden opportunities for academic entrepreneurs from different historically underrepresented groups.
The Presidential Postdoctoral Research Fellows Program encourages early-career scholars to pursue a career in academia by supporting their postdoctoral work at Princeton University.
The program seeks to generate a more inclusive pipeline toward scholarly research and, to address, over time, the underrepresentation of certain groups in academic research communities.
